Delhi Trip

For you long time readers, you will know I visit India every year. I go to South India every year but this year for the first time we planned a trip to Jaipur, Agra and Delhi. If you follow me on Instagram I’m sure you’ve seen me gushing about it – it was such an incredible trip. I realised that South India is so much cleaner and full of such rich people. When I drive down the road here I see mansions but up in Jaipur and Delhi I saw so much poverty in dirt.

It was a whole new world for me and a complete eye opener. I can’t put into words how heartbreaking it was to see such young children running around trying to scrape up enough cash for dinner. I’ve always recommended India to people as a holiday destination – you will be hit with the stark reality of life, of how incredible lucky you really are. I can’t help but think why though? Why am I so lucky and this innocent child not? Its an upsetting question to ask oneself and I felt very helpless this trip.

Nonetheless I also saw the beauty of India and was bowled away. Nature blooms and the architecture shone like jewels on the landscape. I was taken aback by the beauty and detail in the monuments – the Moghuls were definitely lavish with their money. The Taj Mahal was out of this world – it didn’t even seem real. That mass of white marble, shaped into a perfectly symmetrical monument – I felt like I was in a photo. Even while walking on it I felt like I wasn’t really there. You feel overwhelmed when you listen to the story and how much detail has gone into it – architecture nowadays pales in comparison. The Burj Khalifa is the tallest building? So what. It looks like an overgrown needle – that’s it. Amber Fort, Agra Fort, Taj Mahal, Wind Palace etc made me realise how talented humans really are.

I could go on for days talking about my trip but I wouldn’t want to bore you all! So here are the pics, hope you all enjoy.

 Kingdom of Dreams…

PS If any of you go to Delhi make sure you visit Kingdom of Dreams. It’s incredible, it’s an indoor street full of little shops for each major state in India. There was Chennai, Rajasthan, Mumbai, Kerala, Gujarat etc! And each store had their food, clothes, souvenirs etc – it was incredible. However the real reason people go is for the Live Bollywood Stage show! It’s beautiful – the set is incredible and the music and dance, WOW! I definitely recommend it to everyone.
