2014 Beauty Favourites

This was quite difficult for me to choose, I don’t actually have a lot of stand-out products from the majority of the year as the first half I was in Uni and just using what I had whereas the second half I was buying all the things on my wishlist. Nevertheless I’ve grouped together my faves and here they are!

  • Jo Malone Orange Blossom Cologne – I spray this nearly every day. It is gorgeous and I love how sharp and crisp it is. If you like citrusy, floral scents I definitely recommend giving this a sniff – it wakes me up and just makes me happy!
  • Stila Stay-All-Day Liquid Lipstick in Amore – I love how dark, berry lips look on other people but I never really felt it suited me. I love the consistency of this product and I think the colour looks lovely in photos with my skin colour. I truly think this shade would suit everyone – I want to get the deep red next (someone stop me…)
  • Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush in Radiant Magenta – I haven’t shown this on the blog but it’s one of my favourite purchases this year. I love a glowy make-up look and this just lifts my whole face up and livens it up. I love bright pinks like this for the winter, the rosy cheek look is so delicate and pretty. I like just having a pop of this on the apples of my cheeks. The blush itself is beautiful and lasts all day! I’m so impressed, definitely worth the price.
  • Stella by Stella McCartney – My other bottle of this ran out and I found a fabulous deal in Boots on boxing day. I got the 50ml gift set for £35 instead of £50! I definitely couldn’t say no. It’s a lovely, unique, floral scent that I love layering and just wearing on its own too. Beautiful in the evening!
  • Anastasia Dip Brow Pomade in Dark Brown – Another new purchase I haven’t spoken about but there’s not much to say. Best brow product ever – hands down. All hail Anastasia!
  • MAC Lipstick in Twig – Out of all my MAC lipsticks, this is the one I reach for most. I can swipe this on with whatever make-up look I’m wearing, even if it’s nothing. It just completes any look and is so easy to wear, this is an absolute must buy! Especially if you have darker skin!
  • LUSH Oatifix Face Mask – I love popping on a face mask, painting my nails and just relaxing a lot nowadays. I find working full time can exhaust you a little bit and these things are just little pamper moments that I love. This one is amazing for dry skin and my skin has been in tip-top condition ever since using it.
  • NARS Eyeshadow Duo in Isolde – This is one of the most beautiful eyeshadows I own. I love popping these in the inner corner or even all over the lid. It’s better suited in the summer and the quality is stunning too.
  • REN Glycolactic Radiance Renewal Mask – This is one of those hypes I had to skip as the price was too steep. However just before Christmas M&S were having 30% off their gift sets and one of the sets was the REN one. It had a number of products in there including a full size of the Radiance Renewal mask. So instead of paying £30 for it on its own I got the set for £21! Anyway the mask itself is lovely, it’s really helped clear up my skin and I love how easy it is to use and remove.
  • Essie Bahama Mama – I never thought I’d like dark polishes but this has really converted me. It’s a deep berry shade and just looked so chic this winter on short, square nails. Essie’s polishes are amazing quality, this was a fabulous colour this season.
  • The Body Shop Vitamin E Intense Moisture Cream – I don’t know how I haven’t raved to you about this product, this is the first moisturiser I’ve finished. I’ve just subconsciously reached for it all year and it has served me so well. My skin always feels super dry in the morning and this just fixes that asap! Definitely need to repurchase.
  • Sally Hansen Bamboo & Green Tea Nail Strength – I’ve spoken about this in a favourites before but this has helped my nails so much. My nails went through a period of snapping and breaking constantly and this has just fixed it right up! I also recommend drinking more water!
  • Bourjois 1 Second Magic Nail Polish Remover – Again, another one I’m late on. This has made painting my nails so much more fun! Before I’d be so lazy to remove polish but now it’s a total breeeze.
  • DKNY Rose Gold Watch – I’ve wanted a nice watch for absolutely ages and I was generously treated by my Uncle and Aunty for graduation. I wear this every day and it’s so simple and classic. I find the Michael Kors watches a bit too gaudy with too much going on on the actual face whereas this is much simpler. PS. IT’S BEEN REDUCED TO £90!
  • Louboutin Polish in Rouge Louboutin – One of the most decadent gifts I’ve received, this has a special place in my heart. It’s actually my favourite polish to use because it’s so easy to paint with. It just feels like a fancy pen in your hand! I think Nail companies should consider adding a big handle, I love it. This is a gift no girl would be disappointed with.
I didn’t know what was the best format to do this post in but I thought bullet points might be easier than a massive essay. Link me to your 2014 faves! I will do a fashion one next 🙂
